MAINTAIN YOUR VERANDA
As a complement to our fence and deck services, Belvedere also repairs and rebuilds verandas. Sometimes, a home needs a new veranda because the original has become run down with age. Other times, only certain parts of the veranda require repairs to make the whole structure look like new. We also perform porch modernization jobs.
Our staff begins veranda work by protecting surrounding premises and supporting the roof before removing and disposing of the existing structure. We often have to replace pillars because the original ones were on footings that are not below the frost line and have become unstable over the years.
We construct most verandas using 2’’ 10’’ joists secured to the new pillars and the house wall. The structure is covered by paint grade tongue-and-groove pine floor and new pine railings with lattice skirting. A new tongue and groove floor, stairs and painted railing gave this North Toronto home a new look and a new lease on life.
We also rebuild pillars – the backbone of the veranda – from grade, supported on poured concrete foundations below the frost line.

HEATH ST. DECK PROJECT
The second-storey deck on this Heath St. home was designed to blend in with the existing third-storey deck. The curved structure was built on concrete foundations using only hand-picked cedar and finished with a new staircase and wrought iron railing. The unique style of the platform offered our experienced craftsmen a challenge, but the result speaks for itself.
WOBURN AVE. DECK PROJECT
We hand-picked ultra-smooth cedar for this replacement deck for a semi-detached home on Woburn Ave. A clear stain will give this deck protection and a clean appearance for many years to come. By using screws instead of nails, repairs or replacement can easily be made without damaging any part of the deck.
LEASIDE FENCING PROJECT
The Belvedere crew built and installed a lattice fence in the Leaside neighbourhood. Thanks to the wide range of wood fencing materials available today, the only thing limiting you is your imagination.

GOLFDALE AVE. DECK PROJECT
The owner of this beautiful stone cottage style home on Golfdale Ave. in North Toronto chose only the best hand-picked cedar for this lovely rear deck. We removed the pre-cast concrete porch and carefully removed all of the debris.
Concrete piers installed below the frost line will support the new deck. The complete support frame of the deck is bolted to the main structure of the homes foundation.
Our master carpenters constructed the deck to the owners’ specifications, which included caps for the main rail posts, spindle railings and vertical cedar in the sidewalls.
The complete structure was coated with a brand name clear cedar stain applied by our professional painting and decorating crew.
PARKHURST BLVD. VERANDA PROJECT
We constructed this veranda for a home on Parkhurst Blvd. in Leaside from scratch. The owners were very involved with this project throughout, including the finer details, like the tongue and groove clear pine ceiling, the dental trim work and railing.
We began by excavating to below the frost line, installing poured concrete footings and building new brick pillars which were to support pressure treated 2’’ x 10’’ floor joists and 6’’ x 6’’ pillars, which reinforced a completely new roof structure which was shingled to match the existing roof of the home.
New aluminum eavestroughing and drains were also added, and all the finished lumber for this veranda was hand-picked solid pine. The ceiling was finished with clear stain and the remaining pine was primed and covered with two coats of Benjamin Moore exterior latex paint.
Note how the trim on the new veranda matches the trim on the side of the house. The walkway leading to the house was also redone to complete the look.
The railings match the trim on the house, while the ceiling was finished with a clear stain.
